Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Civil Defense Attorney in Philadelphia, PA. The candidate will manage a full caseload independently, handle depositions, draft pleadings and motions, and defend cases through trial.

Duties

• Manage an assigned caseload from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts.
• Prepare cases for and defend matters at trial.
• Conduct legal research and prepare case evaluations and reports.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing in the relevant state.
• 5-10 years of civil litigation defense experience.
• Experience taking depositions.
• Ability to manage an independent caseload.
• Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Trial experience defending civil matters.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in insurance defense, personal injury defense, premises liability, or professional liability.
• Experience defending jury trials.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license and good standing in the relevant state.

Skills

• Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage an independent caseload.
