Job Title: Litigation Associate Attorney
Job Overview:
A San Diego-based law firm with a distinguished record in civil litigation is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with up to four years of legal experience to join its downtown office. This opportunity is tailored for individuals eager to engage in a broad spectrum of defense litigation, including professional liability and personal injury matters. The role offers hands-on involvement, meaningful mentorship, and an encouraging path to courtroom experience.
Duties:
Handle full case files, not isolated tasks, from inception through resolution
Conduct and defend depositions
Prepare and argue dispositive motions
Manage expert discovery and collaborate with expert witnesses
Participate in client meetings and strategy sessions
Take part in trial preparation and potentially co-chair trials within the first two years
Coordinate with supervising attorneys for guidance and development
Stay up-to-date on changes in procedural law and case law affecting litigation strategies
Requirements:
Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California (or pending post-bar admission)
0-4 years of experience in litigation or a related legal field
Demonstrated ability to work independently while engaging in collaborative mentorship
Effective legal research and analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
High level of organization, attention to detail, and proactive time management
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
California Bar Admission (or awaiting admission results)
Skills:

Deposition and motion practice
Legal writing and oral advocacy
Client communication and professional rapport-building
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
