A highly regarded law firm is seeking a Legal Innovation Counsel – Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technology to lead the integration and application of AI technologies, including generative AI and other advanced legal tech tools, across its legal services platform. This role drives strategic innovation initiatives, supports cross-functional teams, and plays a critical part in transforming legal practice through technology.

Lead cross-office and cross-practice initiatives to drive adoption of AI and other legal tech solutions
Collaborate with attorneys and innovation professionals to identify and implement AI use cases
Serve as a resource for individual attorneys in integrating generative AI into their legal workflows
Design and deliver firmwide training, workshops, and collaborative sessions on legal tech use
Develop and maintain prompt libraries and use case documentation tailored to practice areas and roles
Facilitate innovation sessions with legal and business units to surface tech opportunities
Oversee firmwide AI & Tech Ambassador initiatives; define goals and support ambassador development
Monitor the usage and evolution of internal generative AI tools and recommend enhancements
Evaluate AI adoption through internal metrics and market benchmarking
Lead vendor engagements, pilot testing, and feedback processes for new technologies
Consult with clients on legal AI strategy and collaborate on solution design
Contribute to marketing and business development by creating innovation-focused content and resources
At least 8 years of experience as an attorney in a large U.S. law firm
Proven experience with generative AI, large language models, and AI-driven legal solutions
Demonstrated success leading legal technology adoption or innovation initiatives
Ability to present complex technical concepts to legal and business audiences clearly
Strong project management capabilities and a record of executing multi-stakeholder initiatives
Proactive and strategic thinker with high attention to detail
Collaborative leadership style with comfort operating across departments
Availability to travel for occasional firmwide or client-focused engagements
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Active license to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Preferred but not required:
Certifications in legal innovation, AI, or legal operations
Project management credentials (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma)
In-depth understanding of AI technologies applicable to legal workflows
Familiarity with legal document management, automation, and workflow tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to influence and lead without direct authority
Experience facilitating training or knowledge-sharing programs
Data analysis and benchmarking for technology effectiveness
