Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney for its Insurance Defense and Coverage practice group, working remotely for the Portland, OR or Vancouver, WA office. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills, and be ready to contribute to a dynamic legal team.

Duties

• Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Meet an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.
• Represent clients in court, at arbitrations, and in depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare for and attend trials; some travel may be required.

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience in insurance defense and coverage preferred.
• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admitted to practice in the state of Oregon or Washington; other states a plus.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Solid research abilities and written and oral communication skills.
• Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage, and work in a team environment.
• Must respond promptly to email and phone inquiries.
• Excellent client skills and telephone manner.

Education

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in the state of Oregon or Washington.
