Call for Fellowship Applicants
Fellow should be graduate law school or complete a judicial clerkship by the summer of 2021. Will work full time as part of the Legal Department under the supervision of experienced civil rights litigators who are committed to comprehensive feedback. As a legal fellow in a smaller affiliate, will be an integral part of the core Legal Department team. Should have one or more internship or clinical experiences in a litigation setting involving legal research and writing. Judicial clerkships, and internships or clinical experiences involving constitutional issues, are desirable. Applicants need not be members of the Iowa Bar but should be prepared to be admitted during the fellowship.
The fellowship itself would begin in fall 2021.

Submit: detailed cover letter explaining interest in the fellowship, the nature of proposed project and the population seek to serve, as applicable, and why well-suited to carry out this particular project; resume; law school transcript (informal is acceptable); A list of three professional references, identifying their relationship to and including their email and telephone contact information; A statement indicating whether, if application for an Equal Justice Works, Skadden or other privately funded public service fellowship at the ACLU of Iowa is unsuccessful, law school has a program that could fund a fellowship and if so, what rules govern the allocation of such school-based fellowships; and writing sample, which should be legal in nature (documents analyzing a specific legal program in the context of real or hypothetical litigation are preferable to law review articles) and not edited by others.
