Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level finance associate with four to six years of financial transactions experience to join their finance and lending team in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience representing both borrowers and lenders, including banks, direct lenders, private credit funds, and corporate borrowers, across a variety of complex financing transactions.

Duties

• Draft, review, and negotiate commitment letters, term sheets, loan agreements, and related documentation.
• Support counsel and partners with deal management and progress tasks to closing.
• Manage and conduct due diligence, issues lists, and transaction checklists.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams.
• Advise clients on post-closing matters and collateral concerns.
• Conduct legal research and support senior attorneys on financing and restructuring matters.
• Participate in client education initiatives and business development presentations.
• Provide mentorship to junior associates.

Requirements

• Experience with private funds, multi-tranche capital structures, and intercreditor arrangements.
• Comfortable leading and managing transactions from inception to completion.
• Ability to train and manage junior associates.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong drafting abilities.

Education

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to and in good standing with the relevant local Bar.

Skills

• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in managing complex financing transactions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-practice teams.
