A law firm is looking to welcome a driven and detail-oriented litigation attorney to its healthcare defense team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to engage in meaningful medical malpractice work on behalf of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful strategist and self-starter who thrives in both collaborative and independent settings, possesses excellent written communication abilities, and is confident in client-facing environments.
Contribute to the formation of defense strategies in medical liability matters alongside senior attorneys
Prepare a variety of litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery requests/responses, legal memoranda, and motions
Examine, interpret, and evaluate complex medical records for case analysis
Attend and represent clients at depositions, pretrial conferences, hearings, and court appearances
Collaborate with medical experts to support case development and testimony preparation
Conduct detailed legal and medical research to support motions, strategies, and trial preparation
Engage regularly with clients, ensuring proactive communication and case updates
Assist in drafting persuasive briefs and effectively advocate positions in written form
Coordinate efforts with other team members to ensure efficient case progress
Must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in New York State
3–5 years of litigation experience, including at least 3 years of experience, ideally with a focus on medical malpractice, healthcare defense, or personal injury matters
Proven ability to work independently and take initiative in managing responsibilities
Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical capabilities
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build client trust and rapport
Capable of managing multiple deadlines and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment
Meticulous organizational habits and the ability to work under pressure
Skilled in identifying key issues quickly and implementing effective solutions
Comfortable with both in-person courtroom proceedings and virtual collaboration
