A respected national defense law firm is seeking a seasoned Of Counsel – Toxic Tort Attorney for its Los Angeles office. This attorney will play a critical role in defending clients against complex toxic tort matters, including those involving asbestos, talc, and other hazardous substances. Location

Duties

• Handle a full caseload of toxic tort matters, including talc, asbestos, silicosis, and chemical exposure claims

• Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda

• Represent clients at court appearances, mediations, and depositions

• Collaborate with attorneys and team members across various offices

• Cross-examine witnesses, including plaintiffs and fact witnesses

• Prepare strategic litigation plans and case evaluations

• Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and recommendations

• Mentor junior attorneys as needed and support trial teams

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in toxic tort defense litigation

• Substantive experience with asbestos, talc, or related environmental/toxic claims

• Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently

• Trial preparation and courtroom experience required; second-chair trial experience preferred

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Skilled at cross-examination and pretrial motion practice

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Admitted to the State Bar of California and in good standing

• Superior legal writing and oral advocacy skills

• Strong command of discovery procedures and pretrial litigation

• Excellent organizational and time management abilities
