Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney specializing in General Liability for its New York, NY office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of defense litigation experience and be licensed to practice in New York courts. Additional state admissions, such as New Jersey, are preferred.

Duties

• Draft, prepare, and handle pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda.
• Draft and respond to written discovery and dispositive motions.
• Conduct legal research competently and with proficiency.
• Prepare and take depositions of parties and experts.
• Review client documents, draft case evaluations, and status report correspondence.
• Review, assess, and handle matters from inception to trial.
• Assist with and participate in mediations and court appearances.
• Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of defense litigation experience.
• Licensed to practice in New York courts.
• Additional state admissions, including New Jersey, preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
