Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a skilled associate attorney with a strong background in employment and labor law to join its established Employment Practice Group. The role involves advising and representing management clients on a range of employment-related matters, offering a dynamic work environment with opportunities for advancement, professional development, and meaningful client interaction. Ideal candidates will bring litigation experience, a keen understanding of employment law, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in the legal field.

Duties:

• Advise management-side clients on EEO compliance, wage and hour regulations, and various employment practices

• Represent clients in employment-related disputes and litigation

• Draft legal documents, including briefs, motions, and responses to discovery

• Conduct and defend depositions

• Manage multiple ongoing cases and client matters concurrently

• Collaborate with colleagues on class actions, restrictive covenant disputes, and trade secret issues

• Assist with international employment issues and executive compensation matters where applicable

Requirements:

• 5-7 years of dedicated employment law experience

• Demonstrated experience with employment counseling from a management-side perspective

• Proven litigation background, including motion work and deposition handling

• Familiarity with wage/hour, employment class actions, and restrictive covenant litigation

• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois or actively pursuing admission

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent from an accredited law school

• Strong academic performance

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois Bar (or eligibility for admission promptly)

Skills:

• Excellent legal research and persuasive writing capabilities

• Strong analytical and strategic thinking

• Confident verbal communication and negotiation skills

• Effective time management and organizational abilities

• Comfortable working both independently and in team settings
