Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Attorney to join their team remotely from anywhere in the U.S. The position involves preparing and prosecuting complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and medical device patent applications. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.

Duties

• Draft high-quality U.S. patent applications and prepare responses to Office Actions before the USPTO.
• Provide strategic advice on patentability analyses, competitor monitoring, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Manage assigned docket, organize related tasks, and balance multiple priorities.
• Assist in managing and expanding domestic and international patent portfolios.
• Analyze complex technical disclosures and evaluate patent documents and industry articles.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience in patent prosecution and client counseling, focusing on mechanical and/or medical device technologies.
• Valid USPTO registration number in good standing.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing of at least one state bar.

Education

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.

Certifications

• USPTO registration.
