An established law firm is seeking a qualified Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the life sciences and a minimum of four years of experience in patent prosecution. This position involves close collaboration with patent counsel and attorneys across disciplines, offering the opportunity to work on a wide range of IP matters involving innovative technologies in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices.

Evaluate the patentability of inventions across various scientific and technical fields
Draft, prepare, and file U.S. patent applications
Prosecute U.S. patent applications and manage coordination with international counsel for foreign filings
Support due diligence efforts related to mergers, acquisitions, or licensing deals
Assist in the development and management of strategic patent portfolios
Conduct legal and technical research related to intellectual property issues
Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and business stakeholders to develop and implement IP strategies
Serve as a liaison for internal cross-functional initiatives and maintain communication with outside counsel
Minimum of 4 years of experience in patent prosecution within a law firm or in-house legal department
Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices
Familiarity with international patent prosecution and coordination
Proven ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced, collaborative legal environment
Ph.D. in a life sciences-related field such as biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline
Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Candidates eligible to sit for the Patent Bar in the near term will also be considered
Strong technical expertise in relevant scientific subject matter
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-disciplinary legal team
Additional experience in mechanical or electrical patent prosecution is a plus
High level of attention to detail, organization, and analytical thinking
