Job Title: Consumer Defense And Debt Resolution Attorney (Remote Position)

Job Overview:
A Southfield, MI-based law firm is seeking a South Carolina-licensed attorney for a fully remote position focused on consumer debt resolution and defense. This role involves assisting clients facing collection lawsuits through both direct representation and limited-scope legal services. The firm emphasizes negotiated settlements over complex litigation, offering a streamlined environment for attorneys looking to work remotely while maintaining meaningful client engagement.

Duties:

• Defend clients in debt collection lawsuits brought by original creditors or third-party debt buyers

• Review and revise pro se answer drafts prepared by internal support teams for limited-scope representation clients

• Assess and evaluate settlement offers as part of a structured debt resolution program

• Conduct periodic case reviews and file assessments to ensure alignment with client objectives

• Manage communications and coordinate resolutions with opposing counsel or creditors

• Handle occasional court appearances, with the option to request local coverage if desired

• Utilize case management software and digital tools for remote legal practice

Requirements:

• Active license and good standing with the South Carolina Bar

• Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience

• Proficiency with basic legal technology and remote work tools

• Prior exposure to consumer debt defense or collections litigation is preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• South Carolina Bar admission in good standing

Skills:

• Strong legal writing and document review abilities

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

• Ability to independently manage a remote caseload

• Knowledge of consumer protection laws and debt collection practices

• Comfortable with limited court appearances and mostly settlement-focused cases

Job Location:
