Job Overview:
A law firm based in Southfield, MI, is seeking a full-time, remote attorney licensed in New Jersey to support its consumer debt litigation and resolution practice. The role primarily involves representing clients in debt collection matters brought by original creditors or debt buyers and offering limited-scope legal services for clients involved in a structured debt resolution program. This position provides a stable, remote work opportunity with minimal courtroom appearances and a focus on practical, negotiated resolutions rather than extended litigation.

Duties:

• Represent consumer clients in debt collection cases throughout New Jersey

• Provide limited-scope legal services, including reviewing and editing pro se responses

• Oversee resolution-focused matters involving settlement proposals and file evaluations

• Collaborate with internal legal and support teams on case strategy and client engagement

• Coordinate with local counsel when in-person court appearances are required

• Maintain accurate records of case developments and settlement negotiations

• Review and assess incoming settlement offers within debt relief frameworks

Requirements:

• Licensed and in good standing with the New Jersey State Bar

• Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience

• Familiarity with debt collection defense or creditor negotiations preferred

• Comfortable handling a caseload independently in a remote setting

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the State of New Jersey

Skills:

• Strong legal writing and document review proficiency

• Adept at client communication and delivering limited-scope legal support

• Knowledge of debt collection procedures and consumer protection laws

• Comfortable using remote legal management and communication tools

• Ability to assess cases and settlement opportunities efficiently

• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage deadlines independently
