General Liability Defense Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks a skilled Associate Attorney to join its Tampa, FL office and contribute to a thriving general liability defense practice. This position provides a dynamic opportunity to work on a variety of litigation cases for nationwide clients while collaborating with a team that values integrity, professionalism, and open communication.

Duties

• Handle a diverse caseload, primarily focused on defense litigation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda with precision.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft responses to written discovery.
• Take and prepare depositions of parties, experts, and witnesses.
• Engage in mediations, court appearances, and hearings.
• Review client documents, draft case evaluations, and maintain timely status reports.
• Collaborate directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, and colleagues.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of experience in general liability defense, including areas such as personal injury, motor vehicle liability, premises liability, products liability, and construction defects.
• Active license to practice law in Florida. Additional court admissions are a plus.
• Proven ability to manage cases independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with state and federal court procedures.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Florida Bar admission required.
