Job Title: Workers' Compensation Attorney
Job Location: Saint Louis, MO

Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking a skilled attorney to join their St. Louis, MO office, specializing in workers' compensation defense. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience defending workers' compensation cases, with a strong ability to manage complex cases, conduct research, and handle hearings and depositions.

Duties:

• Review and analyze medical evidence and records
• Take depositions from claimants, physicians, medical experts, and other involved parties
• Conduct thorough discovery processes
• Perform legal research to support case strategies
• Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations
• Draft pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, opinions, and other necessary legal documents
• Represent clients in workers' compensation hearings, trials, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings before administrative law judges
• Communicate with claims representatives to address case developments
• Monitor loss run reports for trends and alert management to potential concerns
• Assist with investigating accidents and identifying potential risks
• Manage workers' compensation costs effectively to minimize liability
• Prepare and submit reports for management review
• Coordinate and attend claims reviews
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of employers or insurance companies
• Perform other related duties as needed

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and proof of admission to the Illinois Bar or Missouri Bar; passing the Bar in other Midwest states is an advantage
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in workers’ compensation defense
• Extensive knowledge of legal principles, local, state, and federal laws, and regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook; familiarity with Perfect Law legal software is a plus
• High regard for confidentiality and ethical standards

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.)

Certifications:

• Admission to Illinois or Missouri Bar (additional states a plus)
