Job Title: Litigation Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm based in Tarrytown, NY, is seeking a skilled litigation associate to support its insurance defense practice. This role involves managing cases across various stages of litigation, with a focus on general liability and labor/employment matters. Duties:

• Handle civil litigation matters from inception through expert discovery

• Attend and actively participate in depositions, hearings, and court conferences

• Conduct complex legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents

• Prepare legal memoranda, case evaluations, litigation updates, and settlement agreements

• Communicate directly with clients to provide updates and strategic legal advice

• Engage in negotiations with opposing parties to resolve claims efficiently

• Review deposition transcripts and discovery responses to identify key case information

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in the State of New York

• Demonstrated experience in civil litigation, particularly in general liability and/or employment law

• Proven track record of handling depositions, drafting discovery, and arguing motions independently

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven and high-volume environment

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active New York State Bar admission required

Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Experienced in legal research tools, particularly Lexis

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Detail-oriented with analytical thinking ability

• Comfortable with client-facing responsibilities and legal strategy discussions
