Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm in Westborough, MA, is seeking an experienced Senior Family Law Associate to join its growing practice. This full-time role offers a pathway to partnership for the right individual. The firm handles complex, high-stakes family law cases involving emotionally charged disputes, financial intricacies, and multifaceted legal issues. The ideal candidate brings depth in Massachusetts family law, possesses strong litigation and negotiation skills, and approaches client service with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in all stages of family law proceedings, including divorce, custody, child support, parenting time, and restraining orders

  • Develop and implement strategic legal approaches aligned with client goals and budget considerations

  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal correspondence with precision and clarity

  • Manage high-conflict cases involving issues such as domestic violence, substance abuse, parental alienation, DCF involvement, and complex asset division

  • Conduct hearings, depositions, and trials with a command of courtroom procedure and advocacy

  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court, including mock examinations and trial strategies

  • Communicate regularly and effectively with clients to provide updates, explain legal options, and deliver realistic assessments

  • Engage in skilled negotiation to resolve disputes favorably while minimizing litigation

  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to the growth and development of the practice

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience handling family law cases in Massachusetts courts

  • Demonstrated success in litigation, negotiation, and client counseling within the family law context

  • Comfort with emotionally charged, sensitive, and high-conflict legal scenarios

  • Ability to work independently with a high level of accountability and professional judgment

  • Willingness to work remotely when not in court or attending in-person client meetings

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Active license to practice law in Massachusetts (additional Rhode Island licensure is a plus)

Certifications:

  • Good standing with the Massachusetts Bar

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook

  • Familiarity with Clio or comparable case management software

  • Comfortable conducting virtual meetings via Zoom with a professional presence

  • Experience with secure file-sharing platforms and document management systems

  • Competent with mobile technology for communication and document handling (iPhone or similar)

  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities

  • Empathetic communication style balanced with firm professional boundaries

  • Exceptional active listening and interpersonal skills

  • Confident and polished courtroom demeanor
