Appellate Attorney

A respected law firm is seeking a skilled and passionate Appellate Attorney to support its Motions, Writs, and Appeals team. This team plays a critical role in high-stakes litigation involving personal injury, consumer rights, environmental justice, civil rights, and mass torts. The position offers the opportunity to work alongside nationally recognized appellate experts and contribute to precedent-setting legal outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring advanced legal research and writing skills, trial preparation experience, and a strong commitment to justice.

Location

Duties

• Draft and prepare complex motions and appellate briefs

• Conduct detailed and sophisticated legal research

• Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal teams on case strategy

• Appear in court as necessary for motions and appeals

• Contribute to high-profile cases, including those referred from outside firms

• Participate in team discussions to develop innovative legal strategies

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

• Active license to practice law in California and/or Hawaii

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in appellate litigation or motion practice

• Experience with complex legal writing and appellate brief drafting

• Appellate clerkship experience (preferred but not required)

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) required

Certifications

• Active Bar Membership in California and/or Hawaii
