A law firm seeks a Surety and Construction Litigation Associate in New York, NY, and Uniondale, NY. This position involves working on complex matters related to public and private construction projects, including payment and performance bond claims, contract disputes, and related commercial litigation and pre-litigation transactional work.

Duties

• Represent clients in litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution forums.
• Assist in drafting pleadings, motions, discovery demands, and responses.
• Prepare for depositions and court appearances.
• Engage in transactional and pre-litigation practice involving construction disputes.
• Analyze and litigate various construction-related claims.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and briefs.
• Communicate effectively with clients and team members.
• Manage deadlines and case workflow.
• Support partners on larger matters while managing smaller cases independently.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of litigation experience; construction or surety experience preferred.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Experience with discovery, motion practice, or court appearances preferred.
• Admission to practice in New York; New Jersey admission is a plus.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Desire to grow a practice in construction and surety law.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
