Associate Attorney

The candidate will working with volunteer attorneys handling firm client cases. Assisting firm supervising attorneys and volunteer attorneys with legal strategy, motions, hearings, and trials relating to CHIPS actions and post termination review hearings. Working with firm social worker and firm supervising attorneys in identifying issues relating to firm clients and assist them with identification of plans and proposals for volunteer attorneys in their client representation; Drafting legal pleadings and assisting in developing resources for staff and volunteer attorneys including brief banks, research files on specific topics; Working closely with firm’s Paralegals and staff to ensure court appearances are provided, assist with managing client files including attorney referrals, file opening sheets, Interim File Reviews, File Closing Questionnaires, and communication with volunteer lawyers. Assisting with the development and preparation of firm training programs on specific legal issues of importance to volunteer lawyers. Admission to the Minnesota State Bar; experience with or understanding of the child protection system and courtroom experience.
