Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney

A law firm in San Francisco, CA is seeking an Insurance and Reinsurance Associate Attorney with 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance policies. The role requires extensive civil litigation experience, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, managing discovery, handling depositions, and representing clients in court. Experience in business development, client management, and independent case management is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate excellent academic credentials and superior research and writing skills.

Duties:

• Analyze and interpret insurance policies, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance.
• Handle insurance coverage disputes and reinsurance matters, providing expert legal advice and representation.
• Draft and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery requests.
• Manage all aspects of the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and handling discovery motions.
• Conduct depositions and represent clients in court appearances, trials, and other legal proceedings.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, managing cases independently from inception to resolution.
• Engage in business development activities to attract new clients and expand the firm's presence in the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to develop case strategies and ensure effective case management.
• Stay updated on industry trends, legal developments, and changes in insurance and reinsurance laws.

Requirements:

• 2 to 6 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors and officers insurance.
• Extensive experience in drafting legal documents, managing discovery, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court.
• Preferred experience in business development, client management, and independent case management.
• Excellent academic credentials with proven expertise in legal research and writing.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility to practice in California.
