Job Overview:
A well-established and respected law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Richmond, Virginia office. This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of litigation matters in state and federal courts, including pretrial, trial, and appellate advocacy. The ideal candidate will have prior litigation experience and a strong interest in civil litigation, with additional interest in employment law, bankruptcy, or creditors’ rights considered a plus.

Location:

• Richmond, Virginia

Duties:

• Draft and file court pleadings including motions, responses, and discovery documents in General District Court, Circuit Court, and/or Federal Court

• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda of law and briefs

• Participate in court hearings and proceedings before state and federal agencies

• Assist in trial preparation, including preparing attorneys and clients for depositions, trials, and administrative hearings

• Support appellate work, including drafting briefs and assisting in oral argument preparation

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience (preferred)

• Interest or background in employment law, bankruptcy, insolvency, or creditors’ rights (a plus)

• Demonstrated research, analytical, and writing skills

• Strong organizational and case management abilities

• Effective verbal communication skills

• Local connection to the Richmond area (preferred)

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

• Strong academic credentials required

Certifications:

• Admission to the Virginia Bar (required)

• Additional bar admissions in Maryland, Washington, DC, or North Carolina (preferred)

• Must be and remain in good standing with the Virginia Bar

• Must meet all continuing legal education (CLE) requirements during employment
