Job Overview

A dynamic law firm located in Chicago is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its foreclosure practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. This role is mostly remote, with occasional in-office meetings at the firm's downtown location.

Duties

• Case Management: Independently manage foreclosure cases, including reviewing case files, preparing motions, and handling court appearances.
• Client Communication: Act as the point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and resolving inquiries via email, phone, and case management systems.
• Court Representation: Represent clients in court, ensuring professional presentation and timely submissions.
• Document Preparation: Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, ensuring they meet required standards and are accurately submitted to courts and opposing counsel.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and oversee paralegals to ensure efficient workload distribution and case progression.
• Escalations: Identify complex or unusual cases and escalate them to senior attorneys when necessary.

Requirements

• Licensing: Licensed to practice law in Illinois with a clean disciplinary record; additional licenses in other jurisdictions are a plus.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of full-time legal experience, preferably within a multi-attorney law firm or government agency.
• Caseload Management: Ability to independently handle a caseload involving daily legal research, client communications, court appearances, and staff management.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle complex matters professionally and clearly.
• Organization: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Legal Knowledge: Knowledge of Illinois foreclosure law, civil procedure, and bankruptcy law is preferred.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois (Required)
