Job Overview:
A Boston-based law firm is seeking a skilled associate attorney with 4–7 years of experience in bankruptcy and business restructuring matters. The role involves representing a wide range of stakeholders in complex insolvency proceedings and corporate reorganizations. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated legal professional with strong courtroom, drafting, and analytical skills, particularly those who have practiced in high-stakes restructuring or distressed sectors such as healthcare, senior living, education, and manufacturing.
Duties:
Represent a variety of stakeholders in Chapter 11 proceedings and related matters, including:
Debtors
Secured and unsecured creditors
Trustees, indenture trustees, and collateral agents
Bondholder and noteholder groups
Plan administrators, disbursing agents, bidders, and acquirers
Draft litigation and transactional documents, including:
Motions, complaints, and settlement agreements
Bidding procedures and asset purchase agreements
Forbearance agreements and sale-related orders
Plans of reorganization and related court pleadings
Present motions and participate in evidentiary hearings before bankruptcy courts or other insolvency forums, such as receiverships
Collaborate closely with attorneys across a national restructuring group
Requirements:
4-7 years of experience in bankruptcy, business restructuring, or insolvency law
Demonstrated expertise in both litigation and transactional aspects of bankruptcy
Familiarity with inter-creditor issues, distressed acquisitions, and restructuring strategy
Exceptional legal writing, research, and oral communication capabilities
Capacity to thrive in dynamic, high-pressure environments
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active membership in good standing with the Bar of at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Must meet Bar admission requirements for practice in Massachusetts (or gain admission promptly)
Skills:
