Job Title: Professional Liability Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in New York City, NY is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its professional liability practice group. This role is ideal for attorneys with at least one year of experience in civil defense litigation who are eager to expand their exposure across complex matters involving legal malpractice, employment disputes, commercial liability, and miscellaneous professional liability cases. Duties:

• Handle all aspects of civil litigation matters from inception through resolution

• Defend claims involving legal malpractice, commercial disputes, and other professional liability matters

• Engage with attorney-clients and professional clients directly, building trust and managing communications effectively

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda

• Conduct depositions and court appearances as needed

• Collaborate closely with partners and fellow associates in a team-oriented setting

• Contribute to business development efforts and relationship-building with clients

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of litigation experience, preferably in civil defense or related areas

• Strong interest in handling professional liability matters, including legal malpractice and employment law issues

• Prior exposure to client interaction and case management responsibilities

• Familiarity with both state and federal court procedures (federal court experience preferred but not mandatory)

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-centric legal environment

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the State of New York
