A top-tier U.S.-based law firm is seeking an AI Innovation Counsel to lead the strategic implementation of artificial intelligence and legal technology across its practice areas. This role will be instrumental in embedding generative AI and emerging tools into the firm’s legal service model, supporting both internal teams and external client-facing innovation. The position reports to the firm's Global Head of Practice Innovation and is highly collaborative across all business units.

Lead the adoption and integration of AI and legal tech tools (e.g., generative AI, LLMs, agentic AI)
Serve as a hands-on advisor to attorneys for applying AI in legal workflows and client service
Partner with practice groups and business units to identify, evaluate, and implement AI use cases
Design and deliver firmwide training, workshops, and innovation programs related to legal technology
Develop practice-specific content including prompts, example libraries, and tech-enhanced workflows
Collaborate with internal tech ambassadors to promote adoption and experimentation with AI
Monitor firm-approved generative AI tools, track feature developments, and lead best-practice sharing
Analyze internal metrics and market benchmarks to evaluate tool usage and identify improvements
Lead technology pilots and manage vendor interactions during onboarding and rollout
Consult with clients on AI capabilities and contribute to client-facing innovation discussions
Develop resources and case studies to support innovation marketing and knowledge sharing
Minimum of 8 years of experience as an attorney in a large law firm setting
Demonstrated expertise in generative AI, legal tech, or machine learning applied to legal practice
Strong record of driving technology adoption and innovation projects within legal organizations
Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to lawyers, clients, and firm leadership
Experience facilitating collaborative legal tech initiatives across multiple teams
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Occasional travel required for training, collaboration, or client engagement
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Admitted and in good standing with at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Certifications in legal technology, AI, or innovation (preferred but not required)
Familiarity with project management or design thinking methodologies a plus
Deep knowledge of AI applications in legal practice
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Skilled in leading cross-functional teams and managing change
Strong client service orientation and ability to engage with senior stakeholders
Technologically agile and curious about emerging legal tools
