Estate Planning Attorney
Job Overview:
A law firm located in Auburn, CA is seeking a full-time attorney with hands-on experience in estate planning. This position involves direct interaction with clients, strategic design of estate plans, and thorough document preparation. Ideal for someone who thrives in a structured office environment, this role requires a consistent in-office presence five days a week. The attorney will be involved from the initial client consultation through plan execution and ongoing client relations.
Duties:
Conduct in-person consultations with prospective and existing clients to evaluate estate planning needs
Create and review customized estate planning solutions based on individual circumstances and goals
Explain planning strategies and legal structures in a clear, accessible manner to clients
Manage document execution process including engagement agreements and intake documentation
Monitor tasks and correspondence through internal project management systems (e.g., Lawcus, Asana)
Prepare and review legal documents ensuring alignment with client intent and legal requirements
Lead review meetings to walk clients through final documents and address questions or concerns
Maintain up-to-date, comprehensive notes for all meetings and communications in client files
Participate in team discussions to resolve complex planning questions and share insights
Refer clients to affiliated financial professionals when appropriate and facilitate disclosures
Respond to inquiries via phone or email in a timely, professional manner
Attend biweekly team meetings, monthly all-staff sessions, and specialized planning reviews
Complete other legal assignments or case-related projects as needed
Requirements:
Active license to practice law in the State of California
Minimum of 3 years of experience specifically in estate planning law
Familiarity with trust structures, probate procedures, and tax-related estate considerations
Prior use of legal task management and CRM systems preferred
Comfortable discussing fee structures and handling client onboarding
Ability to independently manage client relationships from consultation through plan delivery
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Completion of relevant continuing legal education in estate planning
Certifications:
California State Bar admission required
Notary Public Commission is a plus
