Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with 2-3 years of commercial litigation experience to join its Business Litigation Practice Group in Charleston, WV. The ideal candidate will have experience with written discovery, depositions, drafting pleadings, motions, attending mediations and court appearances, and assisting in trial preparation. Applicants must possess a strong academic record, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the team.

Location:

Duties:

• Manage and assist with commercial litigation matters, including discovery, depositions, and preparing pleadings.
• Draft and file substantive motions in litigation matters.
• Attend mediations, hearings, and court appearances.
• Assist in trial preparation and trial support.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and other team members to develop strategies and case approaches.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies.
• Maintain client communication and ensure progress updates on cases.

Requirements:

• 2-3 years of commercial litigation experience.
• Strong academic background and demonstrated experience in litigation.
• Proficiency in written discovery, depositions, pleadings, and motions.
• Experience with court appearances, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to legal excellence.

Education:

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in West Virginia (or ability to obtain licensure if not already licensed).

Skills:

• Legal research and writing expertise.
• Experience with commercial litigation matters such as discovery, motions, and pleadings.
• Strong courtroom and deposition experience.
• Ability to manage cases effectively and efficiently.
