Duties

• Represent public entities in legal matters related to economic development, capital projects, and public finance.
• Provide legal counsel on issues involving construction, civil litigation, employment law, and real estate.
• Advise on land use, zoning, and code enforcement regulations.
• Draft ordinances, resolutions, and government contracts.
• Ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information Act and Conflict of Interest Act.
• Collaborate with local government officials and administrators to facilitate effective governance.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience in local government law, either in-house or in private practice.
• Proven expertise in one or more of the relevant disciplines mentioned.
• A strong understanding of public body operations and familiarity with local government administrators is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in the state of West Virginia.
