Job Overview:

A regional law firm focused on construction, corporate, and commercial law is seeking an experienced Title Attorney to join its team. The role centers on supporting clients in the energy and natural resources sector with title examination, drafting title opinions, and performing curative work. The firm offers a collaborative work environment and serves a large, well-established client base.

Location:

• Charleston, WV

Duties:

• Examine land titles and draft detailed title opinions

• Perform curative title work to resolve defects or inconsistencies

• Provide legal counsel related to ownership, mineral rights, and land use

• Draft and edit real estate documents including deeds, leases, assignments, and agreements

• Support clients in the energy, oil & gas, and natural resources sectors

• Maintain strict client and firm confidentiality

• Collaborate with legal teams across offices on title and transactional matters

Requirements:

• 2–4 years of experience with title examination and title opinion drafting

• Experience working with energy or natural resource clients preferred

• Proficiency in curative work and land use-related documentation

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven legal environment

• No existing client relationships required

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in at least one of the following states:
  • West Virginia
  • Pennsylvania
  • Ohio

• Licensure in multiple Appalachian states is strongly preferred

Skills:

• Strong research, analytical, and legal writing capabilities

• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

• High attention to detail and ability to identify legal risks in title review

• Familiarity with real estate documentation, conveyancing, and contractual drafting

• Client-focused, collaborative, and professional demeanor
