Immigration Attorney - EOIR
Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Austin, TX, is seeking a motivated Associate Immigration Attorney to join its growing legal team, specializing in EOIR and removal defense matters. This role presents a valuable opportunity to work on a variety of complex immigration cases and develop professionally within a collaborative environment supported by experienced attorneys and legal staff.
Duties:
Represent detained and non-detained individuals before the Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
Prepare and file defensive applications including I-589, 42A, 42B, I-485, SIJS petitions, and Prosecutorial Discretion (PD) requests
Oversee the preparation and review of affirmative filings with USCIS, such as I-130, I-601A, and U-Visa applications
Conduct client meetings to formulate case strategies and provide thorough legal guidance
Lead a team of paralegals to ensure timely case preparation and strong client service
Draft legal briefs and documentation for various types of immigration proceedings
Requirements:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing U.S. immigration law
Demonstrated ability to independently manage an active caseload
Strong commitment to advocacy in removal defense and humanitarian-based applications
Ability to collaborate effectively within a legal team and contribute to strategic planning
Spanish-English bilingual proficiency is preferred but not required
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction
Certifications:
Bar admission in good standing (no specific state required)
Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication abilities
High emotional intelligence and client-centered interpersonal skills
Competency with case management systems (experience preferred but not mandatory)
Detail-oriented approach to complex legal documentation and filings
