Job Overview:
A well-established immigration law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced Immigration Intake Attorney to lead its intake department. This role serves as the initial point of contact for potential clients, requiring a strong foundation in immigration law, excellent interpersonal skills, and supervisory experience. The Intake Attorney will assess case viability, guide clients through the intake process, and collaborate with legal teams to develop preliminary case strategies. This opportunity is presented by a legal recruiting agency on behalf of the hiring firm.

Location:

• Los Angeles, California

Duties:

• Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to determine appropriate immigration solutions

• Oversee and guide the intake team, including paralegals and contract preparers, to ensure accurate documentation

• Review and assign new client intakes for legal review

• Ensure all intake questionnaires and scopes/retainers are complete and correct

• Collaborate with the Intake Committee to provide detailed client insights for decision-making

• Participate in recruiting and hiring efforts for the intake department

• Educate potential clients and intake staff on various immigration relief options, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and naturalization

• Occasionally review immigration applications and prepare clients/witnesses for USCIS or court testimony

• Conduct legal research and provide analysis on potential case benefits

• Assist with the preparation and review of legal briefs as needed

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of experience in immigration law

• Prior experience in legal intake or client assessment strongly preferred

• Supervisory experience is preferred

• Sales or client engagement background is a plus

• Ability to independently assess case viability and escalate issues appropriately

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) with full professional proficiency

• Exceptional interpersonal and client communication skills

• Strong analytical and legal research capabilities

• Proficiency with case management software preferred

• Ability to multitask and manage a high volume of incoming client inquiries

• Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
