Job Overview:
A respected law firm is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Immigration Attorney to join its team in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This full-time position focuses on EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) matters and offers significant growth potential. The role involves handling both detained and non-detained removal defense cases, managing client relationships, and collaborating closely with a team of attorneys and legal staff.

Duties:
Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
Explain immigration processes and provide strategic legal solutions
Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention facilities
Prepare and submit immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions
Draft and revise legal briefs and case filings
Meet with clients for consultations and determine appropriate case strategies
Develop and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
Maintain ongoing communication with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations
Review submitted immigration documents for accuracy and make necessary revisions
Manage a full caseload independently, while maintaining communication with the Senior Associate Attorney
Requirements:
1–5 years of experience practicing immigration law, particularly in EOIR matters
Proven ability to manage cases from start to finish
Commitment to immigrant advocacy and client service
Collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a team
Ability to travel locally to detention facilities as needed
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction
Admission to the Puerto Rico bar is preferred but not required
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Legal research, analytical thinking, and oral advocacy abilities
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Familiarity with USCIS processes, EOIR procedures, and family/humanitarian immigration petitions
Experience using legal case management software is preferred
