Job Overview
A law firm in Kansas City, Missouri, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 0-5 years of experience in civil litigation. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience with depositions, trials, and other key litigation tasks while working as part of a dynamic trial team. This role requires the ability to manage multiple cases, demonstrate strong legal research and writing skills, and collaborate effectively with partner attorneys.

Duties

• Conduct legal research, including interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence.
• Take and defend depositions for case development.
• Prepare and file motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
• Review evidence to establish defense strategies for clients.
• Analyze pleadings and manage discovery.
• Collaborate with trial teams and senior attorneys to develop case strategies.
• Represent clients in court for trials, motions, and other appearances.
• Travel as needed for court hearings and depositions.

Requirements

• Admitted to the Missouri Bar.
• 0-5 years of experience in civil litigation.
• Admission to Illinois or Kansas Bar is a plus, or the ability to obtain one shortly after hiring.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a larger trial team.
• Excellent time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple cases at once.
• Willingness to travel for court and depositions.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Missouri.
• Additional licenses in Illinois or Kansas are highly desirable.
