Job Overview:
A Los Angeles-based law firm is seeking a litigation-focused associate to join its civil practice, primarily handling personal injury matters involving individuals and government entities. The role offers a strong foundation for attorneys interested in sharpening litigation skills while receiving direct mentorship and structured professional development. With a focus on strategic legal work rather than routine administrative tasks, the position provides opportunities to participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation alongside senior counsel.

Duties:

• Handle a portfolio of litigated personal injury cases from intake through resolution

• Draft pleadings, including complaints and responses

• Prepare and respond to written discovery and meet-and-confer communications

• Represent clients in depositions, motion practice, and court appearances

• Guide clients through deposition and hearing preparation

• Support the mediation strategy and participate in settlement negotiations

• Contribute to trial preparation activities and participate in focus groups

• Engage in skill development programs provided by the firm

Requirements:

• 1-2 years of relevant experience in personal injury litigation

• Familiarity with pre-litigation processes, discovery, and motion practice

• Demonstrated ability to take and defend depositions

• Interest in courtroom advocacy and client representation

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred

• A background in workers’ compensation law is a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar

Skills:

• Strong legal writing and research capabilities

• Effective oral advocacy and negotiation skills

• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex caseloads

• Technologically adept, with openness to utilizing legal AI tools
