Job Overview

A well-respected law firm in the Los Angeles area is seeking an experienced Associate Immigration Attorney to join its thriving immigration practice. Duties

  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Manage and oversee a caseload of immigration cases

  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers

  • Prepare and submit a range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions

  • Review and revise immigration application packets prepared by support staff

  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding immigration law updates

  • Meet with prospective clients for consultations and develop case strategies

  • Provide comprehensive legal analysis to determine case merits and benefits

  • Draft and submit legal briefs and supporting documentation for various immigration proceedings

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law

  • Strong background handling Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR matters, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS filings

  • Proven ability to manage and move cases forward independently

  • Team-oriented approach with a collaborative mindset

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and client-service skills

  • Experience working with case management software preferred

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills

  • Strong strategic thinking and case development ability

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to clients

  • High attention to detail and organizational excellence

  • Time management skills to handle multiple cases efficiently
