Job Title: Liens Attorney

Job Overview:
A Los Angeles-based law firm with a long-standing reputation for client advocacy in personal injury and related legal matters is seeking a Healthcare Liens Attorney to support lien resolution efforts. This role will focus on the negotiation, management, and settlement of a wide range of statutory and contractual healthcare liens arising from personal injury and malpractice litigation. Working closely with compliance and litigation teams, the attorney will play a pivotal role in preserving client recovery while ensuring legal and procedural accuracy.

Duties:

• Manage the resolution of healthcare-related liens, including those from Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA plans, hospital billing departments, private insurers, and medical providers

• Evaluate cases requiring Medicare Set-Asides (MSAs) and coordinate necessary documentation

• Monitor lien-related developments across active cases and collaborate with attorneys and case staff to meet distribution timelines

• Lead settlement negotiations with lienholders to secure favorable outcomes for clients

• Ensure adherence to federal and state laws governing liens and settlement disbursements

• Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients regarding lien statuses and implications for case outcomes

• Prepare legal correspondence and documentation related to lien disputes and settlements

• Partner with internal departments, including settlement, litigation, and accounting teams, to align case strategy and disbursement processes

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience handling healthcare lien resolution within a personal injury or litigation-focused setting

• Demonstrated expertise in applicable lien structures and regulations, including Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, and hospital lien laws

• Strong negotiation acumen with a client-centered approach to dispute resolution

• Detail-oriented work ethic with the capacity to manage high caseloads effectively

• Proficiency in legal software platforms and document management tools

• Experience in plaintiff-side law practice preferred

• Background knowledge in medical billing, insurance reimbursement, and subrogation practices is advantageous

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active and good standing membership with the State Bar of California

Skills:

• Excellent written and oral communication abilities

• Sound legal judgment and analytical thinking

• Familiarity with settlement structures, subrogation rights, and statutory lien enforcement

• Strong organizational and case-tracking capabilities
