Job Overview:
A law firm based in San Jose, CA, seeks a driven Associate Immigration Attorney with 1-4 years of experience in immigration law. Duties:
Deliver clear explanations of immigration processes and offer tailored legal strategies
Represent detained and non-detained individuals in proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals
Conduct intake interviews with individuals at detention centers
Prepare a wide range of immigration petitions, including family-based applications and removal defense filings
Review application packets for accuracy and completeness
Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and nonprofits to inform and implement legal updates
Lead consultations with prospective clients and craft legal strategies accordingly
Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS or court testimony
Draft persuasive legal briefs for immigration-related matters
Manage an active caseload with attention to detail and deadlines
Requirements:
1 to 4 years of hands-on immigration law experience
Proficient in navigating family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR processes, detained cases, citizenship, and USCIS applications
Demonstrated ability to move cases forward efficiently
Strong collaborative mindset and openness to team-based problem-solving
Preferred: fluency in both English and Spanish
Experience with legal case management software is advantageous
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Must be admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Certifications:
Active license to practice law (state-specific Bar membership required)

Strong organizational skills for caseload management
