Profile

A law firm seeks a skilled Associate Attorney to join its New York, NY team in a hybrid capacity. The successful candidate will handle defense‐oriented civil litigation matters focusing on automobile accidents, premises liability, and labor law disputes. This role offers a blend of remote and in‐office work, providing flexibility while supporting a collaborative, client‐focused practice.

Duties

• Manage a docket of defense cases in automobile liability, premises liability, and labor law from inception through resolution

• Draft pleadings, motions, and comprehensive discovery requests/responses with precision and strategic insight

• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda to support case strategy and dispositive motions

• Prepare for and appear at depositions, hearings, and trials, representing client interests effectively in court

• Collaborate with expert witnesses, adjusters, and co‐counsel to gather facts and develop arguments

• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing case updates and written reports to keep them informed

• Coordinate with partners and senior attorneys to review case status, refine litigation approaches, and ensure seamless case progression

Requirements

• Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar

• 2–10 years of experience defending automobile, premises liability, and labor law matters

• Demonstrated skill in drafting and arguing dispositive motions, including summary judgment applications

• Strong legal research capabilities and familiarity with discovery protocols

• Proven ability to manage multiple files independently while meeting firm and court deadlines

• Excellent oral advocacy and interpersonal abilities, with a professional and client‐focused demeanor

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA‐accredited law school

Certifications

• Admission to practice law in New York

Skills

• Advanced legal research proficiency using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or equivalent databases

• Exceptional writing skills for drafting pleadings, motions, and client communications

• Strong trial preparation skills, including organizing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, and examining fact and expert deponents

• Effective time‐management and organizational abilities to juggle a high‐volume caseload

• Collaborative mindset to work closely with a remote and in‐office legal team
