Litigation Defense Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks an attorney to join their dynamic litigation team in New York, NY. This position offers an opportunity to work in the insurance defense field, representing municipalities and their employees in various cases, including slip and falls and wrongful arrests. The role allows for remote work flexibility and provides valuable exposure to municipal law and civil rights matters.

Duties:

• Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, and legal proceedings.
• Draft and file motions, pleadings, and legal documents.
• Communicate and report case updates to insurance companies.
• Provide legal support to senior attorneys as needed.
• Collaborate with internal teams to manage ongoing cases.
• Handle case preparation, including document review and evidence management.

Requirements:

• Active New York State Bar admission.
• Federal Bar admission (Southern District and/or Eastern District) is a plus.
• Municipal law and civil rights experience is required.
• Previous experience in litigation or a related field is beneficial but not required for entry-level applicants.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• New York State Bar Admission (Required).
• Federal Bar Admission (Preferred).

Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent research and analytical abilities.
• Proficient in legal document drafting and case preparation.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines effectively.
• Knowledge of insurance defense and civil rights law is a plus.
