Job Title: Trial Counsel - Nursing Home & Medical Neglect

Job Overview:
A Charleston-based law firm is seeking a seasoned litigator to spearhead courtroom efforts in complex cases involving nursing home abuse, elder neglect, and medical mistreatment. Representing victims of corporate and institutional negligence, this role is for trial-focused professionals driven by justice, impact, and the ability to lead claims from start to verdict. The position allows for remote flexibility within South Carolina, with travel as needed for hearings, depositions, and team sessions.

Duties:

• Serve as lead attorney for cases involving elder mistreatment, long-term care facility abuse, and related medical neglect issues

• Manage litigation independently from inception through trial, including pre-trial motions, jury selection, opening and closing statements, and witness examinations

• Develop legal theories and collaborate with medical, financial, and care-planning experts to build persuasive arguments

• Draft and file motions, pleadings, discovery, and all supporting legal documentation

• Direct strategic planning in coordination with litigation support teams, investigators, and co-counsel

• Provide empathetic, transparent communication with clients throughout litigation

• Ensure effective courtroom logistics and team coordination

• Lead mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial presentations with authority and confidence

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, specifically in elder abuse, medical neglect, or complex personal injury

• Demonstrated success in jury trials or high-stakes negotiations (six- or seven-figure case experience preferred)

• Experience handling caseloads autonomously with little oversight

• Capacity to thrive in a fast-moving legal environment with time-sensitive demands

• Strong interpersonal acumen and ability to manage emotionally sensitive matters

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Active and in good standing member of the South Carolina Bar

Skills:

• Superior trial advocacy and persuasive communication

• Mastery of civil procedure and evidentiary rules

• Strategic case development and litigation planning

• Strong legal writing, motion drafting, and oral argument proficiency
