General Litigation Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced General Litigation Attorney to join its team in Hackensack, NJ. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of general litigation matters, including handling cases from initial intake through discovery, resolution, and trial. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the law, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage cases effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Duties

• Manage a caseload of general litigation matters, including insurance defense cases.
• Handle all stages of litigation, from file opening through discovery, trial preparation, and resolution.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, depositions, and legal hearings.
• Draft legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, and discovery requests.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategies and guide junior staff.
• Develop strong relationships with clients, opposing counsel, and colleagues.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in New Jersey (required).
• Experience in general litigation, with a focus on insurance defense (preferred).
• Actual trial experience to verdict (required).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also thriving in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• New York Bar admission (preferred).
• Willingness to travel for court appearances as needed.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active New Jersey Bar membership (required).
• New York Bar membership (preferred).
