Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise a broad array of clients on intellectual property protection strategies, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of intellectual property matters from initial consultation to registration, enforcement, and dispute resolution.

  • Conduct comprehensive intellectual property audits and assessments for existing and prospective clients.

  • Represent clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), courts, and other administrative bodies.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate licensing agreements, technology transfer contracts, and other IP-related transactions.

  • Stay attuned to evolving legal precedents and regulatory developments in the intellectual property landscape to ensure client advisories remain current and effective.

  • Collaborate with other legal professionals across practice groups to provide integrated legal solutions for client matters involving IP considerations.

  • Foster and maintain relationships with existing clients while actively seeking opportunities to grow a personal client base.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with Indiana bar admission preferred, or the ability to waive in.

  • Between two and six years of focused experience handling intellectual property matters in a legal setting.

  • Demonstrated success managing a personal client portfolio or book of business within the IP space.

  • Familiarity with proceedings before the USPTO and relevant administrative agencies.

  • Exceptional analytical abilities, coupled with a keen attention to detail.

  • Proficient in drafting complex legal documents, agreements, and client communications.

  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to client service and business development.

  • Capable of working independently while contributing to a cooperative team environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in accessible language.

  • Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple client matters and deadlines effectively.
