Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Litigation Associate to join its legal team in Birmingham, Michigan. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of litigation experience and possess a collaborative and team-oriented approach. This position involves handling all aspects of litigation, including developing defense strategies, drafting motions, conducting depositions, and participating in trial preparation.

Location:

• Birmingham, MI

Duties:

• Develop defense strategies for clients in commercial and municipal defense litigation.
• Analyze claims and defenses in litigation cases.
• Collaborate with clients, senior attorneys, and partners to develop case strategies and solutions.
• Draft and argue motions, including motions to dismiss, discovery motions, and summary disposition/judgment motions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Participate in pre-trial and trial preparation.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case progress.

Requirements:

• 3-4 years of experience in litigation, with a focus on commercial litigation and municipal defense.
• Strong track record in drafting and arguing motions, handling discovery, and conducting depositions.
• Trial experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Book of business is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active member of the Michigan Bar in good standing.

Skills:

• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.

• Proficient in handling litigation tasks, including discovery and depositions.
