Job Overview:

A reputable law firm located in Chicago, IL, seeks a driven and detail-oriented legal professional to support its plaintiff-side personal injury practice. This position is open to recent law school graduates, individuals awaiting bar admission, or newly admitted attorneys. The selected candidate will assist in a broad spectrum of tasks, from case development to litigation support, with increasing responsibilities post-bar admission. This role offers the opportunity to grow within a dynamic team that advocates for individuals impacted by negligence or harm while contributing to a client-centered litigation approach.

Duties:

• Participate in managing personal injury cases involving automobile collisions, slip-and-fall incidents, and related claims

• Support case lifecycle from pre-suit investigation through litigation and trial

• Prepare legal drafts, including motions, pleadings, discovery requests/responses, and memoranda

• Facilitate client engagement by explaining legal procedures and providing regular updates

• Conduct legal research to support case strategies and procedural decisions

• Attend and prepare for depositions, settlement conferences, hearings, and court proceedings (if licensed)

• Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel and insurance representatives to reach favorable outcomes

• Maintain thorough documentation in legal databases and case management systems

• Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to promote efficiency and excellent service delivery

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) expected by August 2025 from an ABA-accredited law school

• Intent to sit for the July 2025 Illinois Bar Exam

• Willingness to begin as a Law Clerk if not yet licensed, with the understanding of promotion upon bar admission

• 0-3 years of prior exposure to personal injury, litigation, or client-facing legal roles

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school (completed or in final year)

Certifications:

• Admission (or eligibility for admission) to the Illinois State Bar preferred or expected within the current calendar year

Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication with a focus on client rapport

• Legal drafting proficiency, including pleadings and motion practice

• Analytical thinking with the ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously

• Comfortable working with legal tech tools, document management platforms, and online research databases

• Adaptability and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced litigation setting
