Job Overview

A mid-size, full-service law firm in New York City is seeking a skilled Construction Associate Attorney to join its nationally ranked Construction Law Group. The ideal candidate will have between 3 and 12 years of experience (5+ preferred) in construction law, real estate law, or commercial litigation. This position involves both transactional and dispute-resolution work on behalf of developers, owners, contractors, and other stakeholders in high-profile construction projects. The role offers hands-on legal experience and collaboration with other practice groups in a dynamic and client-focused environment.

Location

• New York City, New York

Duties

• Handle construction-related legal matters, including litigation, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution

• Draft and negotiate construction contracts, license/access agreements, and related documents

• Represent clients in mechanics lien and lien foreclosure actions

• Manage RPAPL §881 access proceedings

• Advise clients on construction defects, delays, and claims

• Collaborate with other attorneys across practice groups to support real estate and business transactions

• Prepare legal strategies and conduct legal research

• Engage in client communications and support business development initiatives

Requirements

• 3–12 years of experience in construction law, real estate, or commercial litigation

• Demonstrated experience in construction disputes, mechanics liens, RPAPL 881, and construction contracts

• Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent legal writing, negotiation, and research skills

• Strong client relationship and interpersonal communication abilities

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in New York (required)
