Job Title: Immigration Attorney - EOIR

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced EOIR Immigration Associate Attorney to join a dynamic legal team focused on removal defense and humanitarian-based immigration relief. This role offers the opportunity to represent both detained and non-detained individuals before immigration courts and federal agencies, while working in a collaborative environment alongside seasoned attorneys and support staff. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in removal defense, excellent client communication skills, and a proactive, team-oriented approach to complex immigration matters.

Duties:

  • Advocate for clients in immigration court and before relevant administrative bodies, including USCIS and the BIA

  • Prepare and submit defensive filings such as I-589, 42A/B, I-485, SIJS, and prosecutorial discretion requests

  • Draft and file family-based and humanitarian applications, including I-130, I-601A, and U-Visa petitions

  • Conduct legal research and write supporting briefs tailored to individual immigration matters

  • Meet regularly with clients to assess case strategies and provide legal counsel

  • Supervise paralegal support staff to ensure efficient case management and client satisfaction

  • Collaborate with other attorneys to develop litigation strategies and best practices

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law, with emphasis on removal defense

  • Demonstrated success managing a diverse caseload and moving cases through various stages

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure

  • Spanish language proficiency preferred but not required

  • Familiarity with legal software and immigration case management platforms

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Admission to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction

Certifications:

  • Good standing with a State Bar (license to practice law required)

Skills:

  • Litigation and advocacy skills in immigration court

  • Deep understanding of immigration law, including humanitarian and family-based relief

  • Clear and professional communication with clients from diverse backgrounds

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple legal matters simultaneously

  • Leadership skills in managing paralegal or legal assistant teams
