A law firm located in Scott Depot, WV, is actively seeking a seasoned litigation associate to support a diverse caseload involving complex civil defense matters. This position involves significant responsibility in case strategy, trial preparation, and client engagement across high-risk areas such as product liability, insurance defense, toxic torts, and employment disputes. Duties:

• Assist in preparing cases for trial, including strategic planning, document review, and coordinating with clients and witnesses

• Conduct in-depth legal research and factual investigations on clients, businesses, and relevant worksites

• Draft a variety of legal documents, including briefs, memoranda, and case updates for clients

• Represent clients during depositions, hearings, and mediations

• Handle occasional travel assignments, sometimes with limited notice

Requirements:

• Active license in good standing with the West Virginia State Bar

• Additional admission in neighboring states (e.g., KY, PA, NC, VA) is advantageous

• 5-7 years of experience.

• Demonstrated ability to write clearly and think analytically in a legal setting

• Previous litigation experience preferred

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities under tight deadlines

• Proactive and adaptable work style, capable of thriving under pressure

• Dedicated to responsive, high-quality client service

• Comfortable working independently while contributing to a team-driven environment

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Must hold an active West Virginia Bar License
